Kovalam waits for a new season

Kovalam: A couple of weeks ago, these beaches were full of tourists basking in the sun or frolicking in the waves. But now, with the rains making their presence felt, the waves are rough - and Kovalam, one of the most popular destinations wears a deserted look. Most of the shops on Eve's Beach and Lighthouse beach have closed shutters. And according to reports, there was large scale erosion reported from both the beaches. The boating, scuba diving and other activities around the beach have been put on hold due to the heavy rains and high waves lashing the shores. Other than a couple of guests who come here to watch the monsoons, these shores will remain comparatively deserted till the season begins by mid-August.
