Paravur: With the onset of the holiday season, the boatride across Kerala Tourism's project 'Muziris' is witnessing a flood of tourists. The trip facilitates a study of Kerala history along with enjoying the splendorous sights of the backwaters. Three air-conditioned hop-on-hop-off boats and two water taxis take tourists on a trip of the ancient Muziris. The Muziris boat ride which started in last August saw the most number of tourist arrivals last month. The boat from the Thattukadavu jetty heads straight for the Sahodaran Ayyapan museum in Cherai. After a round of Sahodaran Ayyappan's birthplace, nearby monastery, museum, sculpture wall where the historic 'misrabhojanam' (community eating) is depicted, etc one proceeds to the church of Manjumathavu in Pallippuram via the waterway. Pallippuram fort is another attraction. After seeing Azhikode church you reach Kottapuram market. There you can enjoy buildings in Dutch architecture and St. Michael's cathedral. You can go to Cheraman Juma Majid from there in vehicle. Next stop after seeing Kottapuram fort is the Chavittunataka Kalakendram in Gothuruth. You can watch Chavittunatakam performance with prior permission. From there you move on to the Paliam palace resplendent with Dutch and Kerala architectural marvels. Paliath achans who were the ministers of the Kochi kings lived here. The Paliam kovilakam is now Kerala History Museum and the nearby Paliam nalukettu is Lifestyle Museum. Remnants of the glorious days of yore can be found here. After seeing the Jewish cemetery, the Synagogue which echoes the Jewish lifestyles and Chendamangalam mosque at the final point of Kottayilkovilakam, you return to Thattukadavu.
