Munnar: The heavy rains Kerala faced recently may have changed the face of Munnar, but its rolling tea gardens continue to be a captivating sight, according to Trod Pitch and her co-tourists from Germany. She led a team of compatriots who turned out to be the first set of foreigners to visit the hill station in Idukki district after last month's deluge.

The tourists from Munich totalled six. Originally, seven of them had planned the trip but one of them backed out after learning about the calamity. Besides Trod, the team comprised of Kareena, Else Basel, Gabriela Brove, Susanna, and Haidi.

The tourists had touched down in the middle of last week at Karipur near upstate Kozhikode. They spent a two-day session of Ayurveda massage at Nattika near coastal Triprayar in Thrissur.

The roads to Munnar had traces of broken stretches along the rugged terrain marked by collapsed bridges and road-blocks owing to landslides.

Yet, Munnar was strikingly beautiful, according to the tourists. "We will come again," said Trod.

The team, on Saturday, flew upcountry to the Kashmir mountains.
