Now, explore Vypin island on affordable tour packages

Kochi: A travel package for a tourist circuit linking scenic spots in Vypin island near here was launched on Sunday. Under the 'Bhoomika' plan, tourists can explore Palaykari, Njarackal and Malippuram in the island by land routes, while the one via the waters is named 'Pravahini.'

The tourism project is initiated by the Kerala State Co-operative Federation for Fisheries Development (Matsyafed).

What's on offer

Fifteen people can join the Bhoomika package at a time, and six on Pravahini. The land package costs Rs 4,000, while the water tour charge is Rs 3,000 per person. Bhoomika is available for Rs 3,000 and Pravahini for Rs 2,500 as an introductory concession in November. 

The land journey will be on an air-conditioned Traveller vehicle. It will start at 8.30 am, and breakfast will be offered at Palaykari. That follows a 90-minute boating in the Vembanad lake on shikara. Angling, pedal boating and barge museum visit are other items.

The visitors will then be taken to Njarakkal Aqua Tourism Centre. Lunch, with a variety of fish items, will be offered in a tree house at Vanchithuruthu. The tourists can use water cycle, kayak, bowl boat, rowing boat and pedal boat. The trip then proceeds to Malippuram Aqua Tourism Centre. Mangrove park is an attraction there. After tea and snacks, there will be a visit to Chappa beach. The trip concludes at 6.30 pm at Palaykari.

The same trip is also offered from Njarackal to Njarackal.

Visitors opting for the Pravahini package will be taken on speed boats from Palaykari to Vypin and back. Other locations are the same, but there will be no trip to Chappa beach.
