A little Singapore, showcasing the most intriguing artworks including elaborate installations and graffiti of the island country, will be on display in different parts of Delhi from February 15.
The three-day festival, titled 'Singapore Weekender', will provide the visitors with a unique rendezvous with innovative art expressions laid at three different zones here in 'The Lodhi Art District' featuring the Singapore Lane, F(r)iction at KONA, Jor Bagh and antiSocial at Hauz Khas Delhi.
The initiative, taken in collaboration with the St+art India Foundation, is a part of the Singapore Tourism Board's (STB) brand campaign called 'Passion Made Possible', launched in 2017.
"Singapore has a rich art, culture and music scene that we wanted to bring to the fore, and our artists at the Singapore Weekender will help bring a glimpse of this to the Indian audience.
"...India continues to be the third largest source market for tourist arrivals into Singapore. We want to continue enticing travellers from India with a storytelling approach for our brand 'Passion Made Possible'," Chee Pey Chang, assistant chief executive (International Group), STB, said.
Touted to be a true celebration of 'diversity, cultures and inclusivity', the festival will see participation of over 30 creators including artists such as Sam Lo, Yip Yew Chong, Yok and Sheryo, installation artist Tan Xi Zi, new media artists Brandon Tay and photographic artist Eugene Soh.
While 'The Lodhi Art District' will feature a special Singapore Lane, where Singapore artists will be part of the transformation of walls between Khanna Market and Meherchand Market into a public art gallery of wall murals, an immersive art exhibition F(r)iction at KONA will represent the discourse on the changing nature of the relationship between art, nature, and technology.
"The temporary exhibition will invite the public to dig into the complexities of our lives entangled in dichotomies and cross-pollinations between technology, art and nature," the organisers said.
Also, giving a peek into Singapore's vibrant music and nightlife will be a pop-up cocktail bar by one of the south Asian country's most popular bars, Jigger and Pony, coupled with a performance by Singaporean rapper Yung Raja during the launch party at antiSocial, Hauz Khas.
"The grand finale will be a 'rap battle' between Yung Raja and Indian rapper Prabhdeep Singh, a first collaboration between the two artistes," they added.
The festival will come to a close on February 17.
