Kerala Tourism gets on board #TikTokTravel

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Tourism has launched its official account on TikTok and will be part of its in-app travel campaign #TikTokTravel.

The world's most popular short-form mobile video app had recently launched the India edition of its in-app travel campaign #YehMeraIndia. The desi campaign invites TikTok users to share their travel moments with the world and thereby, helping India achieve the status of a main global travel destination.

Kerala Tourism director P Bala Kiran has shared his team's excitement for being one of the first state tourism boards to come on board TikTok and be part of #TikTokTravel and #YehMeraIndia campaigns.

“TikTok will surely help India become an attractive tourist destination. It is highly encouraging to see that several hashtags on Kerala already have lakhs of viewers. This is the most opportune time to begin our TikTok journey. The TikTok's tremondous reach would help showcase the alluring locales of Kerala to the world and inspire foreigners to get a real flavour of this land. We also hope that they would also share their videos on TikTok, further popularising the state,” the IAS officer added.

TikTok boasts of about four lakh videos under the travel hashtag with 1.7 billion viewers. The videos are interesting and highly imaginative. Some of the videos have the creators interacting with the nature in various ways, while others focus on those indulging in street food and the varied culture of the land.

TikTok India's director of sales and partnerships Sachin Sharma said that his team has high hopes on the India campaign. "The beautiful landscape of India and the colourful culture would gift the tourist an unforgettable experience. All this would be showcased to the world through TikTok videos, inspiring several others to come to this wonderful land," he added.

While pointing out that India has more than 20 crores of TikTok users, he said that he was hoping that through the travel campaign, TikTok would turn into the most sought-after platform for sharing their travel experiences.

TikTok is gaining widespread popularity among the people, especially travellers, with its ease of taking videos during journeys. TikTok has retained its top position among the free apps on iOS and first spot in Google PlayStore.
