Landslip hits traffic on Kochi-Dhanushkodi NH for two weeks
Devikulam sub-collector Dr. Renu Raj assessed the situation in areas affected the landslip.

Munnar: Traffic got stalled at the Gap Road in Kochi - Dhanushkodi National Highway following a landslip on Sunday. Authorities informed that traffic has been banned through this road for at least two weeks. The landslip happened at the wee hours on Sunday. Huge catastrophe was averted as no vehicles were passing through the road during that time.

The landslip happened at the spot where rocks were blasted away to widen the road, months ago. Three kiosks that stood here are reportedly under soil now.

The vehicles from Theni to Munnar are being diverted via Pooppara, Rajakkad, Rajakumari, Kunjithanni and Anachal. Devikulam sub-collector Dr. Renu Raj, while visiting the spot, told that it would take at least two weeks to break the huge rock here and remove the soil before clearing the road.
