Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Tourism Department would hold the third edition of the Vasantholsavam, an annual flower show, at Thiruvananthapuram from December 21, 2019, to January 3, 2020.
Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran said this year's show would be presented in a novel way to attract more visitors.
Apart from the Tourism Department, other departments such as the forest and agriculture, and private establishments and agencies would put up stalls at the event.
A food fest, introducing visitors to the various flavours from different parts of Kerala, would be set up. There would also be a children's park.
The minister said that trade fair and various stalls would be set up as part of the flower show this year too. More nurseries and institutions are involved in this year's show but the ticket rate has not been increased.
On the last day of Vasantholsavam, cultural programmes would be held at Kanakakunnu.
As per the instructions of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Vasantholsavam was organised under the leadership of Kadakampally Surendran as a new tourism project.
The flower show is organised through ticket sale and sponsorship. Therefore, it does not add to the financial burden of the state government.
From the very beginning, Vasantholsavam had won over the people of the Kerala capital.
Around 1.5 lakh visitors had turned up to see Vasantholsavam in the inaugural year, while more than two lakh people came to see the flower show for the second edition.
