Coracle ride launched in Chimmini reservoir

Palappilly: Visitors to Chimmini Dam and wildlife sanctuary in Thrissur district of Kerala can now enjoy a coracle ride in the dam reservoir. The Tribal eco development committee (EDC) has arranged five coracles which would enable tourists get a closer view of the forest surrounding the lake.

A 20-minute ride in a coracle that can carry four people is charged Rs 400.

The eco-friendly initiative was inaugurated by Wildlife Warden of Peechi, Rajesh. Ward member Sajeena Mujib presided over the function. Those who spoke included assistant wildlife warden, Chimmimi Ajaya Kumar; assistant wildlife warden, Peechi-Vazhani Aneesh; section forest officers K Satyapal and S Prasad; Tribal EDC chairman Kumar and General EDC chairman Shahir.
