Pretty pink water lilies bloom again in Malarikkal

malarikkal

Malarikkal has come alive yet again with the blooming of pink water lilies. Hundreds of acres of paddy fields in the small village near Kumarakom in Kottayam district of Kerala now resemble a sea covered with the beautiful flower.

The picturesque village became a popular tourist spot thanks to the water lilies, but visitors have been banned this year in view of the pandemic. Moreover, the authorities have announced stringent action against violators of the ban. Even though people would miss a real-life view of the blooms this time, they can enjoy the images.

Incidentally, the blooms won't last long. All the flowers will disappear from the paddy fields when preparations for the next crop begin. However, there are more attractions at Malarikkal other than the water lilies. The sunset point at Malarikkal is considered one among the ideal spots to enjoy the sunset, as well as sunrise and travellers to the village can also relish the rustic scenes and stunning landscape of Kumarakom region.
