Travellers with UAE residence visa need to seek entry permission

Dubai: Travellers, with UAE residence visa, have to mandatorily register on the website and seek entry permission prior to the journey.

Those with Dubai visa need to register on the smart.gdrfad.gov.ae site, and residence visa holders of other emirates need to register on the website uaeentry.ica.gov.ae. This rule is now being strictly implemented.

Travellers with Abu Dhabi visa, who did not have the approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA), were not allowed to deboard at the Dubai airport the other day. Around 400 people were thus stranded and were taken to Abu Dhabi in buses much later.

Subsequently, the airline companies also decided not to allow Abu Dhabi passengers, without the ICA approval, to travel to Dubai for now.

As it is difficult to secure the ICA approval and also due to the fewer number of direct flights to Abu Dhabi, most passengers opt to travel via Dubai.
