Teenager rides into record books with solo bike tour from Kerala to Ladakh

Travel junkie H Hariprasad always dreamt of embarking on an all-India tour. Though the 19-year-old was geared up to criss-cross the county on a bicycle in March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic poured cold water on his plans. But the strong-willed Hariprasad never shelved his dreams and kick-started a pan-India tour on his motorbike from Palakkad in Kerala on July 8.

Hariprasad, who is a second year Visual Communication student at Chethana College at Thrissur in Kerala, traversed nearly 1050km to reach Hyderabad on the first day itself. From Hyderabad, he reached Ladakh via Delhi and Kashmir on July 18.

“It was a remarkable experience to interact with people of different states during the road trip, says Hariprasad, who is the youngest son of farmer M Harish and teacher Latha hailing from Ayyappankavu in Thrissur district. Hariprasad’s elder sister H Vidya is a third year BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) student.

During the arduous tour, the teenager visited Turtuk, Twaki village, Pangong Lake, China-Pakistan border and Karur. Through his effort, Hariprasad, who will be returning to Kerala in the second week of August, also wanted to enter the record books as the youngest biker to ride from Kerala to Ladakh.
