Season and counter tickets allowed in MEMU and passenger trains from August 30

Kochi: Ernakulam – Kollam MEMU and Kannur – Mangaluru passenger trains would resume service as unreserved express trains from August 30. Even though the express rates would be charged for the tickets, the passengers can avail season tickets and counter tickets too. Instead of the Ernakulam – Kollam (via Kottayam) passenger, a 12 car MEMU train will be operated in this route.

The train that starts from Kollam at 4 am would reach Kottayam at 6.13 am and at 8.25 am in Ernakulam. Meanwhile, the return trip starts at 6.15 pm and reaches Kottayam at 7.43 pm and at 10.15 pm in Kollam. Kannur – Mangaluru train starts at 7.40 am and reaches Mangaluru at 10.55 am. The return trip starts at 5.05 pm and reaches the destination at 8.40 pm. Railway informed that the train services in other routes too would be resumed in stages. Meanwhile, the Southern Railway has recommended the Railway Board to restart Ernakulam – Guruvayur, Thiruvananthapuram – Kollam, Kollam – Punalur and Thiruvananthapuram – Nagercoil services too.
