The tourism package, which was rolled out on November 1, has raked in nearly Rs 3 crore. A total of 157 tour packages are conducted across 44 units. So far, 765 trips have been completed with over 40,000 people enjoying the safari to various tourist destinations. Just on International Women's Day, hundreds of women also took the joy ride.

The trips to tourist destinations were started on a trial basis by the KSRTC's budget tourism cell. More travellers have opted for Malakkappara, Kothamangalam-Munnar jungle safari, Munnar safari, Palakkad-Nelliyampathy, and Alappuzha-Vagamon, according to budget tourism cell chief traffic manager Jacob Sam Lopez.
