Air traffic in Thiruvananthapuram to increase by 40% from next week

The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has informed that it will have a 40% increase in air traffic from next week.

As per the summer schedule that will be effective from March 27, the existing 348 air traffic movements will be increased to 540, informed the airport in a press release.

The number of international departures is set to increase from 95 to 138 a week with the most number of flights (30) scheduled for Sharjah. The other prominent destinations are Doha (18), and Muscat and Dubai (17). Flights to 14 international destinations will be operated out of Thiruvananthapuram.

Other international departures: Abu Dhabi (11), Singapore (8), Male (7), Bahrain (7), Colombo (7), Kuwait (4), Riyadh (2), Hanimadhoo (Maldives) (2), Salalah (1).

The weekly domestic departures will increase to 132 from the existing 79. Of the total, there will be 28 weekly flights to Bengaluru, and 23 to Mumbai.

Other domestic departures: Chennai (14), Delhi (14), Hyderabad (14), Kolkata (7), Kochi (7), Pune (7), Kannur (7), Durgapur (7) and Kozhikode (4).
