Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet has decided to introduce season tickets for regular passengers of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
Season tickets will be issued for all services from ordinary to super-class. Passengers taking season tickets will get a discount of up to 30% in the bus fares.
Those travelling once or twice in a week can also take season tickets based on the number of trips per month. These passengers too would get a discount of up to 30%. A smart card will be introduced for this.
The government has also changed its policy on KSRTC. The KSRTC can now take decisions on its own over increasing fares on inter-state buses according to the season. Earlier, the government decided on the fare hike. Now, the KSRTC board meeting can take a call.
