The cultural capital of Kerala lit up with a scintillating fireworks display at the Thrissur Pooram on Monday.

With rain clouds keeping away from the skies till the end of the fireworks, the Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu devaswoms competed with each other to light up the sky.

While Mundathikode Satheesh prepared the fireworks for Thiruvambadi, PC Varghese prepared the fireworks for Paramekkavu at the Thekkinkadu Maidanam.

Pakal Pooram

It's said that the events of Pakal Pooram held after the day of Thrissur Pooram are solely for the residents of the city. However, Pooram lovers far and wide can't help feeling excited about the final events of the day, including Pakal pooram and Upacharam Chollal.

The ‘Upacharam Cholli Piriyal’ ceremony, held in front of Sree Vadakkumnathan during which the elephants carrying the idols of deities bid goodbye to each other by raising their trunks, marks the ending of Thrissur Pooram.

Face-to-face: Both groups with 15 elephants each
Upacharam chollal - Timing: 12.10 pm
