Malappuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced a connection bus for the Vande Bharat express train from Tirur railway station at night to Malappuram. The bus service will be a huge relief for passengers arriving at Tirur on the Vande Bharat heading to Kasaragod from Thiruvananthapuram along Alappuzha.

The first trip of the KSRTC connection service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 3. The bus will start from the Tirur railway station itself.

Schedule
KSRTC authorities said that the connection bus will leave Manjeri at 7 pm every day and arrive in Tirur railway station at 8.40 pm. The arrival time of the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat at Tirur is 8.52 pm. After the Vande Bharat reaches Tirur, the connecting bus will start from the railway station at 9 pm. It will later arrive in Malappuram by 10.10 pm.

Plenty of benefits
The connection bus will be a convenient facility for travellers belonging to Malappuram who return from  Thiruvananthapuram side on the Vande Bharat. Currently, there are no buses from Tirur to Malappuram at the time Vande Bharat reaches Tirur and passengers on the train have to depend on private vehicles to reach home. The last regular KSRTC service to Malappuram leaves Tirur at 7 pm and the last private bus at 8.15 pm. KSRTC officials said that the connection service would, therefore, solve the travel woes of travellers at night.

Apart from passengers arriving in Vande Bharat, travellers alighting at Tirur from the Alappuzha – Kannur Executive Express, which reaches the station at 8.36 pm, and the Puducherry – Mangaluru Express which arrives at 8.48 pm, will also benefit from the KSRTC connection bus.

Moreover, traders and employees of various institutions in Tirur heading towards Malappuram late at night too can utilize the bus service. The bus will be a big boon also for KSRTC long-distance travellers towards Malappuram who have no buses at night from Changuvetty on the national highway.

Yet another section of passengers who will gain by the connection bus is travellers towards Kasaragod from Tirur at night.
