Finally, Vande Bharat Express gets a stop at Chengannur

The Ministry of Railways has approved the stoppage of the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express at Chengannur.

Union Minister V Muraleedharan announced the development in a Facebook post on Friday. He said the upcoming Sabarimala season was taken into consideration in approving the stoppage at Chengannur.

According to a Ministry of Railways update, the stoppage will start at "an early convenient date". The ministry has called for a 'close watch on the sale of tickets' at Chengannur to review the utilisation of the stoppage.

Union Minister Muraleedharan has claimed that the speedy allocation of a stop at Chengannur was made possibly on the request made by the Alappuzha district unit of the BJP. "I thank Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for acting quickly," Muraleedharan said.

However, shortly after the Vande Bharat was launched in Kerala on April 25, Kodikkunnil Suresh MP had raised the demand for stoppage at Chengannur.
