Eight trains cancelled in Kerala for repair works; TVM Express to run 7 hours late

Several trains were cancelled and partially cancelled on account of the repair works held on the railway bridge in Pudukkad - Iringalakuda section.

Eight trains were completely canceled and 12 trains were partially cancelled. Mangalore - Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express, Ernakulam - Shornoor MEMU and Ernakulam - Guruvayoor Express have been cancelled on Saturday. 

Thiruvananthapuram - Mangalore Maveli Express, Shornur - Ernakulam MEMU, Guruvayur - Ernakulam Express, Ernakulam - Kottayam Express and Kottayam - Ernakulam Express have also been cancelled on Sunday. 

The Trivandrum Express (train no. 16348), running between Mangaluru Central and Thiruvananthapuram Central, will begin its journey seven hours late  at 9.25 pm on Saturday, the Palakkad railway division authorities said.

Instead of the regular time, i.e. 2.25 pm, the train will leave only by 9.25 pm from Mangaluru Central so as to facilitate engineering works between Pudukkad and Irinjalakuda railway stations in Thiruvananthapuram Division on November 18 and 19. 

Similarly, the Dr MGR Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express (train no. 12695), scheduled to leave Dr MGR Chennai Central at 3.20 pm on Saturday has been rescheduled to begin its journey at 6.45 pm on Saturday, meaning the train would run late by three hours and 25 minutes.

Revised changes in train services
Due to line block and power block on both the up and down lines for the launch of steel composite girders for the road over bridge at Mahe station yard, changes have been made in the train services on Saturday and Sunday. 

Earlier, the authorities had announced that the timings of the Kochuveli-Shri Ganganagar Weekly Express (train no. 16312), Thiruvananthapuram Central – Hazrat Nizamuddin Junction Tri-Weekly Rajdhani Express (train no. 12431) and Dr MGR Chennai Central – Mangaluru Central West Coast Superfast Express (train no. 22637) will be regulated. However, the previously-advised regulations for these trains are all cancelled and these trains will run normally.  

Regulation in train services
The Dr MGR Chennai Central – Mangaluru Central Superfast Express (train no. 12685) scheduled to leave Dr MGR Chennai Central at 4.20 pm on Saturday will be regulated en route by 40 minutes on Saturday and Sunday. Also, the Thiruvananthapuram Central – Mangaluru Central Express (train no. 16604) scheduled to leave Thiruvananthapuram Central at 3.45 pm on Saturday will be regulated en route by 20 minutes on Saturday and Sunday.

Temporary stoppage for train services at Varkala Sivagiri

There will be a one-minute temporary stoppage at Varkala Sivagiri in connection with the Sivagiri Theerthadanam festival for three days from December 30 to January 01, 2024, informed railway authorities. The Kochuveli – Mysuru Junction Express (train no. 16316) will stop at Varkala Sivagiri station at 5.20 pm on these days and the Mysuru Junction - Kochuveli Express (train no. 16315) will stop at 07.50 am.
