Believers scale Kurisumala at Vagamon from today

Erattupetta: The rush of faithful to scale Kurisumala in Vagamon by basking in the virtue of the Lent has begun. For the past 100 years, believers have been scaling these heights, aided by their steely faith. If you scale this height that borders Kottayam and Idukki, you will be able to savor the beauty of nature caressed by the breeze blowing from all sides. The Kurisumala is part of the Vagamon Church under the Pala Diocese.

On all Lent Fridays, the Way of the Cross will be held from Kallilla Kavala at 9 am to the Mount Top. Then Holy Mass will be held on the mountaintop at 10 am. Agape or community meal will be distributed at the top of the mount from 6.30 am on Good Friday. Then, Good Friday holy rites will be held at Kallilla Kavala at 7.30 am, followed by the Way of the Cross from Kallilla Kavala at 9 am. If you reach Erattupetta via Pala from Kottayam and then travel one kilometre from Vazhikkadavu in the Theekkoyi-Vagamon route, you can reach Kallilla Kavala which is the base of Kurisumala.

Those coming from Kumali and Kattappana can reach Kurisumala via Vazhikkadavu after reaching there through Eluppara and Vagamon. Those coming from Idukki and Thodupuzha should take the Moolamattom-Pallikkanam route and reach Vagamon and Vazhikkadavu to reach Kurisumala.

The scaling of the mount, bearing the cross, which is conducted as part of Lent, has also started at Valyachan Mount at Aruvithura. Holy mass will be held at the Aruvithura Church at 4 pm every day. Then, a rosary procession will be held, followed by the Way of the Cross to the hilltop. Then the Holy Mass will be held at the hilltop.

Valiyachan Mount can be reached by taking the Ambara Nirappu-Aruvithura Road after reaching Pala-Bharananganam from Kottayam. One can reach Valiyachan Mount by taking the Ambara Nirappu-Bharananganam route after reaching Erattupetta.

The Lent Pilgrimage to the Mar Sleeva Mount at Oottupara in Thidanand will begin today. From today onwards, on all Lent Fridays, there will be the Way of the Cross at 4 pm and a Holy Mass message at 5 pm. Oottupara can be accessed from Kurisingal Junction in Thidanad on the Erattupetta-Kanjirappalli route.
