Kochi: The Cochin International Airport Limited has rolled out a fast-track immigration system that could reduce the processing time to under 20 seconds. This marks the launch of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program, which is designed to ease the immigration process, eliminating the need for manual passport stamping. Earlier, CIAL had launched the Digi Yatra program for domestic passengers to check in sans the boarding pass. International passengers can complete the immigration processes within 20 seconds using the FTI-TTP programme.

How to apply?
Four biometric e-gates are installed at the arrival and departure areas for fast-track immigration. Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India can apply via the Ministry of Home Affairs portal. After successfully uploading the necessary documents, including the passport, the applicant can move on to the next stage of biometric enrollment. The enrolment counters have been arranged at the FRRO Office and the immigration centres at the Cochin International Airport.

Those who have completed the one-time registration can use the smart gates for all international travel, avoiding the long queues and waiting hours to complete the immigration procedures. First, the passport should be scanned at the e-gate, followed by showing your face to the camera at the second gate. The gate will be opened when the system recognises your face, completing the immigration process.
