Kochi: The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has urged passengers flying during the Republic Day to arrive early for check-in due to tightened security measures. The move is in view of the January 26 Republic Day celebrations.

"In anticipation of Republic Day, security processes at all airports, including Cochin Airport, have been heightened. Passengers are advised to arrive earlier than usual to accommodate extended check-in and security procedures," the CIAL advisory issued on Thursday stated.
A CIAL official said the security procedures have been heightened since January 20 and will be on till January 30. As part of the enhanced security procedures, a secondary ladder checkpoint clearance has been put in place.
