Dress code for air travel? Not following them can invite these troubles
Mail This Article
US-based airline company Spirit Airlines has recently rolled out a dress code for its passengers. You may wonder how important passengers’ outfits are in air travel. However, the truth is that these dressing rules are pretty standard for all airlines. Hawaiian Airlines, South West Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines and Qatar Airways have imposed stricter dress codes for their passengers. Take a look at some of the dressing rules so that you won’t run into trouble if you travel in these airlines.
Spirit Airlines
According to US-based airlines, passengers may not be allowed to board if they are barefooted, inadequately clothed, or wearing flimsy clothes. Obscene and provocative outfits, lewd tattoos and even severe body odour could be the reasons for barring you from flying on Spirit Airlines. Spirit is one of the budget carriers in the US that allows passengers to reach their destinations without breaking the bank.
American Airlines
Although American Airlines hasn’t prescribed any particular dress code, the passengers are expected to dress according to industry standards. Those who are barefooted and wear outfits that cause discomfort to fellow passengers may not be allowed to board the aircraft. Outfits with provocative or obscene words written on them and revealing clothes are not allowed. Besides, body odour is also cited as a reason for not letting passengers inside the aeroplane.
Hawaiian Airlines
Hawaiian Airlines has noted that passengers cannot travel wearing swimwear or bikinis. Footwear is mandatory, and the outfits should be decent without any obscene messages written on them.
Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways has rolled out a dress code for passengers in business class and above to maintain its premium service. Passengers won’t be allowed to board the premium classes of Qatar Airways if they wear shorts, sportswear, or flimsy clothes. Besides, the dress code could also change depending on the passenger’s destination.
South West Airlines
The passengers should wear shoes and avoid wearing outfits with lewd words written or printed.
United Airlines
Although there aren’t any stricter dressing rules, passengers shouldn’t wear revealing or provocative outfits. Besides, passengers who are barefooted won’t be allowed to board.
Delta Airlines
Delta Airlines will not let passengers wear dirty or provocative outfits inside their aircraft. Unruly passengers and those who have excessive body odour, too, aren’t welcome.
India-based airlines rules
According to experts, no official dress code is in place for passengers on India-based flights, though there are some guidelines:
1) Keep your attire casual. However, do not wear overly revealing outfits, especially on domestic flights.
2) Avoid outfits with controversial graphics or prints
3) Barefoot passengers aren't allowed on certain carriers.
4) Smart casual clothes are preferred in premium classes.
