Alappuzha: Train services will get partially disrupted on the coastal rail route between Alappuzha and Ernakulam on February 26. Trains have been restricted from 9 am to 3 pm as commissioning of the electronic interlocking panels will be held at the Kumbalam railway station tomorrow. The Kannur–Alappuzha Executive Express (16308) will end its service at Ernakulam and will also start the return trip from here.
Meanwhile, the Indore – Kochuveli Superfast Express (22645) and Netravati Express (16345) will be rerouted via Kottayam. The Dhanbad – Alappuzha Express (13351) will be stalled at Ernakulam Junction for two hours before proceeding to Alappuzha. The other trains on this route will run services as usual.

An Electronic Interlocking Panel is a computer network that controls signals and directs trains to specific tracks in the stations. This technology is used to prevent any accidents and mishaps when two trains enter the same track at a time.
