KSRTC is all set to introduce a new travel card for its passengers in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. The training for conductors to handle it is completed, and its sales will start in another two weeks. Unlike the earlier travel card KSRTC had introduced, the new one can be easily used by the conductors on their new digital ticketing machines. The price of one card is Rs 100, and it can be recharged up to Rs 2,000 at a time. The minimum top-up cost is Rs 50. Relatives and friends can also borrow it as and when they need it.
If a card stops working, it can be deposited at the respective depot to get a new one. However, if it is damaged, a new one will be issued only at a charge. A conductor who sells a card will also get Rs 10 commission. If it's well-received in the districts, it will be implemented in other parts of Kerala too, said KSRTC. The monthly cards were earlier introduced in 2017, in premium, gold, silver and bronze and in 2022 as well.
