Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC has relaunched chartered trips for weddings and other private journeys without burning a hole in the customer’s pocket. The corporation has reduced the fares of these services by at least 50 per cent. The new rates fall into four categories, including ordinary services and Volvo buses.

More buses are now available for such journeys, as most of them are back in service after the maintenance works. A minibus could now be hired for a four-hour trip covering 40 kilometres for a reasonable rate of Rs 3500. An additional amount would be charged for extra kilometres. Meanwhile, it is Rs 3600 for ordinary buses for a four-hour trip covering 40 kilometres to a location and back.

Additional fare and GST should be paid for each extra kilometre. After completing the formalities, the buses are to be hired from the respective depots. Per the old fare system, a four-hour trip on an ordinary bus costs around Rs 8500.
