In 2024, India ranked 80th on the world-renowned Henley Passport Index. This year, the country has moved up three spots to 77, sharing the position with African countries Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Côte d'Ivoire. However, compared to last year's 62, India can now travel visa-free to only 59 countries. This includes 19 each from Asia and Africa, 11 in North America and 10 in Oceania and one in South America. India's neighbour, Pakistan, has also improved its rank from 101 to 96. The index has 199 passports and 227 travel destinations.

Who topped the list
Just as last year, Singapore topped the list again this year, and those holding its passport can travel visa-free to 194 countries. Last year, the country shared the top spot with France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Japan. However, it has won the top spot, all by itself. The second position this year goes to Japan and South Korea. Their passports can take holders to 190 countries. Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Finland, Ireland and Denmark hold the third position together, letting travel to around 189 countries visa-free.
