Munnar: Two youngsters from Munnar, who are seasoned mountaineers, have now conquered the 6081-feet-tall Mount Shinkun East in the Himalayas. Abraham Selvin (31), who hails from Ikkanagar, and Prince Jacob, a native of New Nagar, both members of the Munnar Adventurers Group, which conducts trekking and mountaineering trips for tourists, have successfully scaled the mountain in the Greater Himalayan ranges.
Abraham and Prince were part of a 60-member group that began the trek after training for over a month. However, only 18 could successfully reach the summit. Meanwhile, it took five days for Abraham and Prince to reach the summit of Mount Shinkun East. The group had begun the climb from Rajma in the Spiti Valley, Lahul district, Himachal Pradesh. The group touched the summit at 6.30 on Sunday.
A rescue team of the Indian Mountaineering Federation, too, had accompanied the group. The duo says that they used mountaineering equipment to climb the steep slopes that are covered in snow. Meanwhile, Abraham and Prince are all set to climb Mount Everest next. Years ago, a four-member group from Munnar had conquered the 6000-metre-tall Mount CB–14 in the Himalayan ranges.
