Just a day after KSRTC's new campaign 'Orma Express' had his friends remembering bus journeys with him during college days, superstar Mohanlal himself arrived to check out the latest fleet of the corporation. Along with Kerala Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar, who was also a former actor who has shared screen with him in many films, Mohanlal checked out KSRTC's new volvo buses, spent some time on the footboard of a new bus reliving his college days, and also spoke to media on why bus travel in his hometown Thiruvananthapuram has always been special.
His special memories
Mohanlal said that it was while he was a college student that he had travelled by KSRTC buses the most. Interestingly, during the Orma Express interaction, which also had Mohanlal's close friend and director Priyadarshan as part of it, the filmmaker had revealed that both he and the actor used to board the same KSRTC bus. "I used to take it from Chengalur junction, while the future superstar boarded from Poojappura. He was studying in MG College and I was in University College," said Priyadarshan.
Apparently, both of them belonged to 'rival' gangs and even used to engage in some teenage antics in buses, to impress girls and feel superior! "The bus travel was a lot of fun. Mohanlal and I preferred standing on the footboard rather than finding a seat inside the bus," Priyadarshan revealed. Remembering the vintage KSRTC buses, Mohanlal also said, "Buses as advanced as these weren't part of the fleet then. More good buses and good roads should be introduced in our state to improve it. Foreign countries give a lot of importance to the development of transport and roads. If the transportation system improves, a place will naturally develop."
Orma Express
In the inaugural service of Orma Express, celebrities such as Maniyan Pillai Raju and Nandu had also taken part. The special service was arranged as part of KSRTC’s efforts at rebranding to promote a bright future for the state transport service. The Orma Express was a promotional trip as part of KSRTC’s auto expo 'Transpo 2025' that will be held from Friday to Sunday at Kanakakunnu. The service that started at Kowdiar Square covered Raj Bhavan, the Ayyankali statue and Manaveeyam Lane before ending in front of the legislature. Orma Express has scheduled services in the coming days, too.
