Idukki: The state government on Friday permitted public visits to the Idukki and Cheruthoni dams from September 1 to November 30. The decision followed discussions between Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine and Power Minister K Krishnankutty.

Visitors will not be allowed entry on Wednesdays, when routine dam inspections are carried out. Access will also be restricted on days when shutters are opened, during red or orange rainfall alerts, and when the District Disaster Management Authority imposes restrictions.

Entry is permitted under strict adherence to the Green Protocol. Police will be deployed to ensure safety. Passes can be booked online through www.keralahydeltourism.com.
