A one-time entry fee has been launched for tourists who visit the various tourist spots in Kodaikanal. Instead of collecting separate fees for entry to the Guna Caves, Pillar Rock and the pine forest, tourists could make a one-time payment at the Rock Pillar area to visit the other places too. The entry fee is Rs 30 per head for adults, Rs 20 for children and Rs 1000 for foreigners. Besides, a parking fee of Rs 50 should be paid for cars and Rs 20 for two-wheelers.

Earlier this year, the Madras High Court had set a limit on the number of tourist vehicles permitted to enter the Nilgiris and Kodaikanal until June. Kodaikanal can permit a maximum of 4,000 vehicles on weekdays and 6,000 on weekends. The vehicles of local people, government transport buses and other government vehicles on duty were exempted from the list.

If you are planning a trip to Kodaikanal this Onam season, check out Coaker’s Walk, Pillar Rocks, Dolphin’s Nose, Silver Cascade Falls and Bear Shola Falls as they look their best this season. As the post-monsoon climate is now quite refreshing and cool, these spots can offer a relaxing experience for visitors. However, avoid weekends as the roads can be quite busy in the region on those days.
