Munnar's KSRTC double-decker bus, one of the hit budget tourism launches by the corporation, met with an accident on Friday. The bus, which got damaged in the front and side portions, will not be conducting its three daily services today as it is undergoing repair works. The incident happened yesterday afternoon around 3 pm. According to sources, the incident occurred near Irachilpara in Devikulam when the bus attempted to avoid a collision with a high-speed car travelling in the wrong direction. The bus had a total of 45 passengers; nobody was injured. In the incident, a bus waiting shed on the roadside was also damaged.

The bus was launched on February 8 this year. The 50-seater, named 'Munnar Royal View double-decker,' has been enjoying tremendous interest and bookings for all its daily three trips, ever since the launch. Even earlier, the bus was damaged once, when it was taken for maintenance, and a protruding asbestos sheet from the workshop hit its glass covering. After the incident on Friday, the tourists were taken to Munnar on another bus.
