Alappuzha: Dhanbad – Alappuzha Express (13351), which is supposed to end its service at Alappuzha today, has been cancelled. Therefore, the Alappuzha – Dhanbad Express (13352), scheduled to depart from Alappuzha at 6 am tomorrow, will not operate. Many trains, including the Dhanbad Express, have been cancelled due to the widespread protests in the south eastern states led by the ADIVASI Kurmi Samaj. The protestors have reportedly been staging blockade protests at many places.

Although the Dhanbad – Alappuzha Express was supposed to begin its journey at 11.35 am on September 20, it didn’t happen due to the unrest. This train should have reached Alappuzha by 3.15 pm today for it to operate the return service on the next day. So, the Alappuzha – Dhanbad Express too had to be cancelled. However, the authorities haven’t issued any official notifications regarding this.

Hundreds of people travelling from Alappuzha to Ernakulam and Thrissur districts for work rely on the Dhanbad Express. Now that this train is cancelled, they will have to board the Ernad Express (16606). But not everyone who usually takes the Dhanbad Express may be able to find a place in Ernad. Some of them may have to take the bus or rely on other modes of transport.
