The much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper train was expected to be launched this month. However, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently stated that the long-distance train, equipped with modern amenities, will be delayed further, by at least a month. While the first rake is ready for service, there appears to be an unavailability for the second rake. To ensure regular services, both trains will have to be launched at the same time. If all goes well, the second train is expected to be manufactured and completed with testing by mid-October. There were reports that the first Vande Bharat sleeper trains would be on the Delhi-Patna route, as Bihar is going to polls in a few months.

Kerala too was expected to have a train on the Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram stretch. In fact, a few months ago, it was reported that the first Vande Bharat Sleeper would be launched on the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru route. However, according to the latest updates, its launch might take a few more months at the least. The sleeper coaches offer numerous exceptional amenities for enhanced safety and comfort. It will have 16 coaches, attain a top speed of 160 km/h, feature modern lighting, surveillance cameras, heat ventilation, crash-resistant features, and advanced toilets. The coaches are reportedly under construction at the Chennai coach factory.
