The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Grama Vandi service, a rural initiative to connect nearby towns and villages, has also been launched in Idukki. The service, launched in Udumbannoor, is from Udumbannoor Town to the Thattakuzha Family Health Centre area in the region. The area also features other major institutions of Udumbannoor, including the village and panchayat offices, as well as banks. The service is expected to be a significant relief to daily commuters. The Grama Panchayat will bear its fuel expenses, while funds will also be sourced through own-fund allocations and sponsorships. KSRTC will handle vehicle maintenance and staff salaries.
