Kerala's new Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat: Timings, stops
Mail This Article
To the delight of Kerala rail passengers, the much-demanded Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat service was announced by the Railway Minister on Wednesday. When the special Vande Bharat tri-weekly service on the route was discontinued in 2024, around the Onam season, the move drew flak from commuters and people's representatives alike. At the time, the train was reportedly suspended because the authorities had not issued a notification to extend it. However, the railways had mentioned that the service can resume after revising the departure time from Bengaluru. Now, as per the latest reports, there are slight changes in the timings of the re-launched service. Here are the details.
Timings and stops
The train will leave Bengaluru at 5 am and reach Ernakulam by 2 pm. In the return direction, it is expected to reach Bengaluru by 11 pm. There will be six stops between the two stations - Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Selam. The current journey time of 13 hours is expected to reduce to below 9 hours. The train is expected to be launched by mid-November. Last year, the special services were scheduled for Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays.
