In view of the surge in passenger demand during the Diwali season, the South Western Railway has announced two special trains to Kollam from Bengaluru. The services will operate on November 16 and November 21, respectively. Reservations for these trains began recently. 

First train on November 16
The first special train (06561 – SMVT Bengaluru–Kollam Special) will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 3 pm on November 16 and reach Kollam at 6.20 am the next day. The return service (06562) will leave Kollam at 10.45 am. on November 17 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 3.30 am.

Second train on November 21
The second special train (06567 – SMVT Bengaluru–Kollam Express Special) will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 11 pm on November 21 and reach Kollam at 12.55 pm the following day. In the return direction, the train (06568) will leave Kollam at 5 pm on November 22 and reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 9.45 am on November 23.

Coach composition and stops
Each of the special trains will have 2 AC two-tier coaches, 3 AC three-tier coaches, 11 sleeper class coaches, 4 general second-class coaches and two second-class coaches. The trains will stop at SMVT Bengaluru, KR Puram, Bangarapet, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam and Kollam.
