Wayanad: Tourism centres operated by government and public-sector agencies, including the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), the Forest Department and other quasi-government bodies, will stay shut on election day.

In a press release, the DTPC said that all its major destinations — including Pookode Lake, Edakkal Caves and Kuruva Islands — will remain closed on Thursday.

The Banasura Sagar hydel tourism centre at Padinjarathara, run by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), and the Karapuzha Dam tourism centre under the Irrigation Department will also be closed.

However, privately run tourism centres such as adventure parks and other commercial establishments will operate as usual.
