Around 32 arrival flights and 34 departure flights were cancelled at the Delhi airport today, due to low visibility and fog, reports PTI. On Thursday, Indigo announced it had cancelled a few flights for Friday due to morning fog. Air India also revealed that its flights on Friday may be affected by weather conditions. The period between December 10 and February 10 is known as the official fog window in Delhi. During this time, airlines only roster pilots trained to operate in such weather conditions. They also deploy a CAT-IIIB-compliant aircraft fleet, which features a navigation system that helps aircraft land in foggy conditions.

IMD reported a minimum temperature of 9.1 degrees Celsius in Delhi today, and dense fog also enveloped the city. The condition is likely to continue till Sunday, and a cold wave is also expected to affect specific areas, the IMD said. A cold wave is declared if the minimum temperature drops to 4.5 degrees Celsius to 6.5 degrees Celsius. Today's air quality in Delhi was in the 'Very Poor' range, at 302.

Over the coming days, clear skies and moderate fog are predicted, with daytime temperatures between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius. At night, it can dip to 6-9 degrees. Those travelling on open roads and highways are also expected to be cautious due to the weather changes. Cold wave and fog have also affected Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Mordabad, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Gwalior, Bhubaneswar and Khurda.
