Kerala's rail passengers are impressed by the Antyodaya (06163/64) train, which operates only at night and has general compartments only. The service that has earned the moniker 'Vande Bharat of the common man' is already one of the most loved train services in the state. For instance, members of the rail passengers group 'Friends on Rails' said that passengers consider the decision to extend the Antyodaya services as a win for them. Here are its timings, stops and more.

Antyodaya timings
Train number 06163 runs services every Monday at 5.15 pm from Thiruvananthapuram North to Mangalore Junction. This is beneficial for those travelling to the capital city for various purposes, including students, patients at the Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences, and the RCC. It is really difficult to leave the city in the evenings, especially for women, children, persons with disability and the elderly, without reserved tickets in trains. The passengers are relieved that Antyodaya operates service on Mondays, the busiest day of the week.

It is often impossible to secure confirmed tickets on major express trains such as Malabar and Maveli. Even if one tries for last minute tatkal tickets, the reservation status becomes waiting list within three minutes. Passengers are often seen precariously standing on the steps in these extremely crowded trains. Moreover, it is a nightmare trying to travel in these trains with unreserved tickets. Meanwhile, the Thiruvananthapuram division has found a fabulous schedule for Antyodaya via Kottayam. Additionally, the train makes stops that are generally convenient for passengers.

Return service
The return service from Mangalore Junction is on Tuesdays at 6 pm. Meanwhile, the passengers have been urging the authorities to make the Antyodaya train, which has successfully completed nine months of service, permanent.
