Kumarakam: A new service from Alappuzha KSRTC bus depot to Kottayam via Kumarakam will be launched soon. More buses would be added on this route if this service becomes successful. The bus departs from Alappuzha at 7.40 am, and the return trip from Kottayam is scheduled for 10 am. Meanwhile, the next trip is at 12.10 pm from Alappuzha. Additionally, there is another trip at 4.50 pm from Alappuzha; the bus returns from Kottayam at 7 pm.
The KSRTC bus service from Alappuzha to Kottayam via Mannancherry, Muhamma, Thannermukkam, Bund Road and Kumarakam was stopped due to the construction of the Konathattu Bridge. A new service will be launched, with changes to the timetable. KSRTC buses from the Vaikom, Cherthala, Alappuzha, and Kottayam depots operate services on the Kumarakam route.
Two services from the Vaikom depot were resumed after the bridge was opened for traffic. Additionally, the new service will be launched from Alappuzha. However, no service has been announced from the Cherthala depot yet. Previously, 23 KSRTC buses operated on this route, which is the busiest. The services to Kottayam via Kumarakam were the most lucrative ones in the Kottayam district. Employees used to even earn collection bata for operating buses on this route. Meanwhile, the passengers said that travelling on this route would become easier again if all the services were resumed.
