Traffic restrictions are in place in Kottayam and Kannur, following Vice President Dr CP Radhakrishnan's visit, for the 140th anniversary of a Malayalam daily. The event will be held at 2.30 pm today (May 31) at Kottayam's KC Mammen Mappilai Hall. Governor Rajendra Arlekar and Chief Minister VD Satheesan are also attending the event. The Vice President will land at the Kottayam Police Parade Ground by helicopter at 2.20 pm and depart at 3.30 pm.

Following this, the Vice President will arrive in Kannur district in the evening. He will attend the wedding reception of Yamunabharathi, daughter of MP C Sadanandan and T Vanitharani, at Mattannur. The Governor will accompany him. He will arrive at the airport at 5.30 pm and depart at 6.45 pm.

The Vice President, who arrived at the Mangaluru Airport by a special flight on May 30, later reached Dharmasthala in Karnataka by helicopter. On May 31st, he will visit the Manjunatha Swamy Temple in the morning. Later, he will inaugurate the Siri Mathrusri Industrial Park of the Siri Gramodyoga Samithi in Dharmasthala.

Traffic restrictions
Police have informed that traffic control will be in place in Kottayam from 1 pm today. Goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 11 am until the end of the Vice President's visit.
a) Those coming from the Nattakom side via MC Road and proceeding to Medical College, Ettumanoor, Kumarakom areas should turn left at Cement Kavala and proceed via Parechchal Bypass. Those proceeding on the same route to Kanjikuzhi, Manarkad, Puthuppally should turn right at Manipuzha Junction and proceed via Kaduvakulam, Kollad.

b) Buses from the KSRTC stand proceeding via KK Road should reach Manipuzha junction and continue their journey via Kollad – Devalokam – Kanjikuzhi Junction.
c) Buses from Nagampadam bus stand proceeding to Manarkad, Puthuppally, and Kollad routes should reach Ceaser's Junction, turn right, and proceed via Mangalam Junction – Vattamooodu Bridge – Kanjikuzhi Junction. All vehicles from the Manarkad and Puthuppally areas should turn left at Kanjikuzhi Junction, proceed via Devalokam – Kollad to Man Pull Junction, and continue their journey.

d)Those going from Mooovattupuzha, Kaduuthuruthy areas to Changanassery should proceed from Pattithanam Junction via Ettumanoor – Manarkad Bypass, Puthuppally. Vehicles from Manarkad heading to the Medical College should also use the Manarkad Bypass.
e) Those proceeding from the Medical College area to Changanassery should proceed via Kudayampadi – Chalakuzhi – Aruthootti Junction – Thiruvathukkal – Parechchal Bypass.

Ban on flying helicopters and drones in Kottayam
As part of aerial security arrangements, the District Collector has issued an order prohibiting the flying of helicopters, drones, microlight aircraft, UAVs, and other equipment in the vicinity of the Kottayam Police Parade Ground and Mamman Mappila Hall, and at helipads in the district, for 24 hours from 12 midnight on May 31. The prohibition does not apply to the Air Force, SPG, state police, and other agencies officially assigned to support the Vice President's visit. In case of an emergency requiring the flight of helicopters or other prohibited equipment, prior permission must be obtained from the District Collector. Violators of the order will face legal action.
