Ramesh Pisharody delivers promise, Palakkad gets new city bus: Route schedule, timings

Public transport in Palakkad is set for a major upgrade as the highly anticipated KSRTC city bus service prepares to roll out soon. Spearheaded by its MLA Ramesh Pisharody, the launch marks the fulfilment of one of his key electoral promises. With the mini-bus delivered and the driver ready, urban commuters can soon travel across the town with ease.

In a significant boost for daily commuters, travel on these city buses will be free for women under the state government's Priyadarshini scheme. The initiative aims to enhance mobility, comfort, and safety for women across the municipal limits.

Proposed route and schedule details
The service has been planned to use a dedicated minibus to seamlessly connect the town's key areas. In the morning, the route will begin by 8.10 am. It will link the Palakkad KSRTC Bus Stand, Manapullikavu, Government Medical College, Civil Station, Yakkara, Chathanamkurussi, Noorani, Big Bazaar School, Melamuri, Mercy College, and Stadium Bus Stand. Following this, the bus will operate regular trips along the Olavakkode-Puthiyapalam-Medical College corridor until 4.50 pm. 

Evening schedule and transit hub connectivity
The evening service will commence at 5 pm at the Government Medical College, then run through Olavakkode and Mundur to reach Kongad. The return trip will depart from Kongad, passing through Mundur and Olavakkode, and conclude at the Palakkad KSRTC Stand. Transport authorities have indicated that this tentative route layout may be adjusted based on operational feasibility, with the final timetable to be officially announced during the inauguration. This service addresses a long-standing public demand to interlink Palakkad's primary transit centres, including the KSRTC, Town, Municipal, and Stadium stands.
