Kochi’s Bill-Free Cafeteria Where Everyone Has A Right To Eat | Capuchin Mess
- February 20 , 2026
While new restaurants trend each day in Kochi’s bustling food scene, a simple cafeteria in Petta goes about its daily routine with no need for the spotlight. This is the Capuchin Mess, where people from all walks of life gather to eat with dignity, whether they can afford to or not.
With no bills or cash counters, Capuchin Mess serves simple, healthy and tasty meals so that everyone has access to food. Run by the Capuchin priestly order with the help of a group of volunteers, the canteen sits at Petta Jn, near Swamy’s Coffee House and opens at 7:30 AM for breakfast and 12:30 PM for lunch across the week, except Sundays when only breakfast is served.
