Tharoor Paradox: Owner's envy, rival's pride

Congress's global face, Shashi Tharoor, has put the party in a catch-22 situation. The party was already miffed with Tharoor for his repeated Modi praise, but has not been able to act against him as he emerges as India's voice post Operation Sindoor. Despite its differences with him, the Congress could have at least made a show of owning Tharoor and taken control of the post-war narrative. But it kept a distance from Tharoor. Congress's reluctance was quickly seized upon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has now appropriated Tharoor, India's finest word-missile launcher, for his own political and diplomatic pursuits.
