#MeToo: Taking down the movement will only help offenders

Calling out oppression! The spread of a tag line that lets sexual harassment survivors open up about their ordeal should be scary to the ones unleashing these crimes. A neutral stand on oppression is only laugh worthy as the benefit of doubt is what helps the perpetrators of such crimes.

The one thing saddening about this global online movement, named #Metoo, is the tendency to sully the character of the survivor just because the predator in the story is an eminent personality and is in the good books of any power structure.

The very purpose of this movement thereby gets drifted away by this insensitive community that is eager to cage the survivors via slut-shaming. There is thus a huge attempt to subtly hogwash the movement to paint as an anti-male gender war. It is a mode of taking down the movement along with denial tactics so as to generate an ignorant community that is apathetic to oppression.

The very architect of the movement Tarana Burke has clearly stated that the movement has lost its way due to wrong narratives and high drama. Some cases indeed prove that the movement requires a constant reminding to not shift away to agendas woven by the offenders.

The reach of #Metoo has been ambiguous. Are you part of #Metoo? Am I part of it? What more forums have to be made available for all us to be with it? A chain of issues and related problems like social pressure come along with a movement like this.

A large maxim of the community hasn't yet received the privileges of a movement that is making wave in the mainstream. Everyone deserves a #Metoo disclosure. If that requires taking the cause to places with no media access at all, then cases as such has to undergo a fine discourse.

The movement in simpler words is an attempt that pats your fellow survivor knowing that 'this has happened to me too.' This healing process has therefore received a vast recognition. Thus the next levels of the movement should promote the greater acceptance of the movement by educating masses about the very deep-rooted notions that raised an environment to let go off harassers.

The existence of oppression masked with patriarchy, misogyny, chauvinism etc. has to be cleansed with the spark #Metoo has setup. How tough is to understand consent?

The majority feel they got it right. But #Metoo stories do not reveal so. And so this movement is a study material. The prevailing system's deliberate response to this platform is mere apathy. Before the oppressing forces reach our doorsteps let's revolutionise the system that is tolerant to injustice. Its definitely harder as it gets, and it's not all moonlight and roses! As we name and shame, harassers should be the only ones to tremble in fear.
