Thrissur: The 16th annual day celebration of the Malayalam Wikipedia was held here recently. The 6th annual conference of the users and well-wishers of Malayalam Wikimedia projects and first annual meeting of Wikimedians of Kerala User Group were held on the sidelines. A three-day valedictory function will be held from January 19 at Kodungallur.
The conference was useful for authorities of libraries, educational institutions and clubs to know more about the Wikimedia projects. The organisers focused more on students and held practical sessions which will help them to develop contents for Wikipedia.
The meet aimed at bringing together the Wikimedians in Kerala and bring new editors into Wikimedia projects. The organisers are expecting around 300 contributors, including students and Wikimedians, this year itself.
Wikimedians of Kerala User Group and Wikisangamotsavam organising Committee are behind the holding of the event.
Wikipedia is the biggest independent free encyclopedia on internet. It started its Malayalam version on December 21, 2002.
