Applications can be submitted now for the PhD, MS (By Research) programmes conducted by IIT Madras. Candidates can log in to the website https://research.iitm.ac.in for the procedures, which follow the ‘Any time admission’ mode.
As the last date of admission would be fixed later according to the programme, candidates should regularly check the website and need not consider the dates mentioned in the admission brochure.
Disciplines available
Candidates can pursue PhD and MS (By Research) in the following streams: Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Biotechnology, Chemical, Chemistry, Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Engineering Design, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Studies, Mathematics, Mechanical/ Metallurgical & Materials / Ocean Engineering and Physics. In addition, there are interdisciplinary research programmes.
Candidates who seek admission in more than one department should submit separate applications.
Financial assistance
Candidates selected for PhD are eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs 31,000 for the first two years and Rs 35,000 for the next three years. For MS, the amount is Rs 12,400 per month for two-and-a-half years.
