Students from classes 1-9 in Kerala Board to be promoted

Thiruvananthapuram: The state education department has directed to promote all students from classes 1 to 9 under the Kerala Board of Public Examinations to the next higher class.

Students from class 1 to 8 are being promoted, as per the Right to Education Act, and class 9 students due to the Covid situation.

The directions were given as it was impractical to conduct the year-end evaluation exercise due to the lockdown curbs. All procedures have to be completed by May 25. Teachers have to contact all students via phone and discuss their academic standards. This should be completed from May 26 to 30 and the report submitted.

Admission from today

The admission procedures for the next academic year will start in government, aided and unaided schools from Wednesday. Admission can be sought via Sampoorna portal (www.sampoorna.kite.kerala.gov.in) or parents can directly contact the school over the phone. The documents can be submitted after the lockdown.

Tabulation of class 10 marks: CBSE extends deadline to June 30

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline up to June 30 for schools to tabulate class 10 marks and submit it to the board.

Earlier, the board had announced that the entire exercise of tabulation of marks would be completed by June 11 and the result would be declared by June 20. But the deadline has been extended to June 30 in view of the lockdown in several states due to the COVID pandemic and to ensure the safety of teachers and other staff.

The CBSE had on April 14 cancelled class 10 board exams and postponed class 12 exams due to the surge in Covid cases.
